CHESTER, PA — Nearly 400 families received food, essentials, and school supplies this week as Price Rite Marketplace partnered with Feed the Children and the Boys & Girls Club of Chester for a large-scale community distribution event held November 18. The effort is part of the supermarket chain’s long-running “Feeding Minds & Bodies” campaign, a program focused on addressing food insecurity across the Northeast.

Families selected by the Boys & Girls Club of Chester received a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of personal care items, school-supply backpacks, and Price Rite gift cards. The distribution was supported by an extensive group of national food and consumer brands, including Kraft, Hormel, Conagra, Pepsi, Goya, Kellogg’s, Tyson, and others, alongside contributions from Feed the Children and Price Rite Marketplace.

Kevin McDonnell, president of Price Rite Marketplace, said the company’s annual campaign reflects a long-term commitment to supporting communities facing persistent need. He noted the retailer’s gratitude for the continued support of Chester residents and emphasized that hunger relief remains central to its charitable mission.

Local and regional leaders joined the event, including Chester Mayor Stefan Roots, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, State Representative Carol Kazeem, Deputy Mayor Portia West, and Boys & Girls Club CEO Derrick Billups. Representatives from Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children were also present.

Emily Callahan, president and CEO of Feed the Children, said hunger demands collaborative action, stressing that only broad partnerships can meaningfully address childhood food insecurity. She pointed to the ongoing challenge faced by one in five children in the United States.

Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children launched the Feeding Minds & Bodies initiative 11 years ago, with the retailer contributing nearly four million pounds of food valued at more than $14 million in gift-in-kind donations. To date, the program has reached more than 228,000 people across 57 cities, marking a substantial effort to support families impacted by food insecurity.
