Hamilton Lane, Columbia Threadneedle Target Wealth Market With New Fund

Hamilton Lane

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ: HLNE) is partnering with Columbia Threadneedle Investments on a proposed public-private growth equity fund aimed at expanding private-market investment options distributed to wealth clients through financial advisors.

Columbia Threadneedle filed a preliminary registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the Columbia Hamilton Lane Growth Innovation Fund, an interval fund that would combine public and private growth equity exposure.

The proposed fund will be managed by Columbia Threadneedle and is expected to be offered through financial advisors. Its launch remains subject to SEC registration and approval by the fund’s board.

The collaboration pairs Hamilton Lane’s private-markets investment platform, sourcing capabilities and data analytics with Columbia Threadneedle’s public-markets and multi-asset investment operations and distribution relationships.

The firms are targeting a segment of the investment market where access to private assets remains limited for many individual investors. The planned structure is intended to provide exposure to both public and private investments within a single portfolio.

The agreement also extends Hamilton Lane’s reach into the wealth channel, where investment managers have increasingly sought structures capable of providing individual investors with access to asset classes historically concentrated among institutional investors.
