PHILADELPHIA, PA — Glowing rooms, giant spiderwebs, carnival scenes and interactive games are transforming a former Center City department store into a Halloween adventure where families can enjoy the spooky season without worrying about monsters jumping out of the shadows.

Halloween House Philly has opened at Fashion District Philadelphia, bringing 10 elaborately themed rooms, hands-on activities and photo opportunities to the shopping center’s second floor. The attraction occupies the former Forever 21 space near Primark, offering visitors of all ages an indoor Halloween experience designed to entertain rather than frighten.

Following a run at Deptford Mall in New Jersey last year, Halloween House has expanded into Philadelphia with a location nearly twice the size of its previous attraction.

Unlike traditional haunted houses, Halloween House features no live monsters, scare actors or unexpected jump scares. Instead, visitors follow a winding maze through imaginative environments filled with Halloween decorations, interactive challenges, and opportunities to take photographs.

“Halloween House is an all-ages, fully immersive experience where every themed room brings Halloween to life in a different way,” said Halloween House Philly owner Peter Coyle. “Our goal is to create unforgettable Halloween fun for everyone, with no jump scares – just magic, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments.”

Returning attractions include the Glow Room, Zombie Bunker, Spiderweb Spectacle and Carnival of Horrors. New additions for 2026 include a Jeopardy Room, a Karaoke/Dance Room and a space inspired by the internet’s mysterious Backrooms concept.

The experience takes approximately 40 to 45 minutes to complete, although guests are welcome to revisit their favorite rooms afterward. The adventure also concludes with a surprise trick and treat.

Coyle said the larger Philadelphia location allowed organizers to introduce new activities while retaining popular elements from previous years.

“I’m so excited; this year’s Halloween House is going to feel like a completely new experience as we expand into a new and larger space!” Coyle said. “We have added new rooms and things to explore. Even guests who have visited before will have a blast.”

Beyond its themed rooms, Halloween House Philly is planning special events throughout October, inviting visitors to dress up, create photographs and videos, and compete for prizes.

The celebration begins Saturday, Oct. 17, with Netflix Night and Day, when guests are encouraged to dress as characters from shows such as Wednesday and Stranger Things. The competition offers a $250 Visa gift card and four VIP Christmas House tickets.

Philadelphia football fans can participate in Eagles Day on Sunday, Oct. 18, by wearing team gear or creating Eagles-inspired Halloween photographs and videos. The prize package includes two Eagles tickets and four VIP Christmas House tickets.

Halloween Movies Day follows Saturday, Oct. 24, inviting visitors to dress as characters from films including Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, and The Addams Family. The prize includes a Halloween merchandise package valued at more than $250 and four VIP Christmas House tickets.

On Sunday, Oct. 25, GTA Day will encourage guests to dress as characters from the video game franchise or create videos inspired by its gameplay. Finalists will be featured on social media for public voting, with the winner receiving GTA V Ultimate Edition and four VIP Christmas House tickets.

The seasonal celebrations conclude Saturday, Oct. 31, with The Night(and Day)mare Before Christmas, a Halloween-to-Christmas crossover inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. Visitors are encouraged to wear themed costumes, with a prize to be announced.

The attraction also represents a new entertainment offering for Fashion District Philadelphia, giving downtown residents, workers and visitors another reason to explore the shopping center during the fall season.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Halloween House to Fashion District Philadelphia this season,” said Dennis Deehan, the shopping center’s general manager. “It’s a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience that gives Philadelphians and visitors a fun new reason to come downtown, and we can’t wait to see families, friends, and fans of all things spooky enjoy it.”

Located entirely indoors, Halloween House offers a weather-independent outing for families, groups of friends and Halloween enthusiasts.
