PHILADELPHIA, PA — GLOBO Language Solutions has been selected as one of 24 U.S. semifinalists advancing in the Primary Care Innovation Challenge, a program supporting digital health solutions to improve primary care delivery, the company announced.
The challenge, hosted by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Massachusetts eHealth Institute, focuses on addressing administrative burden, workforce burnout, and patient access in primary care settings.
Semifinalists were chosen from a pool of 70 applicants and will compete for $300,000 in grant funding to support project development.
“High quality primary care… is facing an unprecedented crisis,” said Dipak Patel, CEO of GLOBO. “Nearly every stakeholder agrees major improvements are needed to improve care delivery, efficiencies, and affordability.”
GLOBO said it plans to use the program to test its AI-powered healthcare interpreter in real-world clinical environments, including deploying human interpreters on-site to observe interactions and identify effective use cases.
“Our goal is to pinpoint the best use cases for scaling language services access for patients with limited English proficiency,” Patel said, adding that the effort is intended to reduce in-person demand and ease capacity constraints.
The Primary Care Innovation Challenge is part of the Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Challenge, which connects companies with research and development environments to accelerate product testing and adoption.
The program aligns with the Massachusetts Primary Care Access, Delivery and Payment Task Force established in 2025, according to the Massachusetts eHealth Institute.
“Primary Care Challenge semifinalists reflect a strong group of digital health startups that have developed meaningful solutions for clinical settings,” said MeHI Director Keely Benson. “We hope to tackle some of the most pressing obstacles facing primary care today.”
GLOBO, based in Philadelphia, provides interpreting and translation services across healthcare and other sectors through technology platforms and a global network of linguists, according to the company.
