PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers should prepare for overnight delays on southbound Interstate 95 as crews install temporary lighting on the Girard Point Bridge in Southwest Philadelphia.

The restriction is part of a $261.5 million project to rehabilitate the 5,183-foot, double-deck Girard Point Bridge and nine approach structures between Enterprise Avenue and Broad Street (Route 611).
The broader project includes bridge deck rehabilitation, expansion joint work, barrier replacement, structural steel and concrete repairs, lighting and drainage upgrades, scour protection around a bridge pier in the Schuylkill River, and improvements to Intelligent Transportation Systems on I-95.
South State Inc. of Bridgeton, New Jersey, is the general contractor. The project is financed with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
