FS Expands Enterprise Network Portfolio With Three Switch Lines

FS

NEW CASTLE, DE — FS is expanding its enterprise networking equipment portfolio with three modular switch series designed to increase network capacity and reduce infrastructure replacement requirements as businesses accommodate growing data traffic and connected devices.

The network infrastructure provider plans to introduce the S6500, S6300 and S6000 series, targeting organizations with different bandwidth, routing and network expansion requirements.

The products will extend FS’s existing enterprise and small-business switching portfolios, with an emphasis on core and aggregation infrastructure used to connect and manage traffic across large networks.

The S6500 series is designed for high-capacity enterprise environments, offering switching capacity ranging from 56 terabits per second to 448 terabits per second, depending on configuration.

Built around Broadcom switching chips and a distributed architecture, the platform supports high-density network connections and large-scale Layer 3 routing.

Available configurations can accommodate up to 576 10-gigabit Ethernet ports, 72 40-gigabit ports or 72 100-gigabit ports. The series also supports routing tables containing as many as 160,000 IPv4 entries.

Those specifications position the S6500 for large campus networks and other environments requiring substantial switching capacity and connectivity between network segments.

The S6300 series targets large enterprise and campus deployments requiring configurable network infrastructure and support for multiple services.

Its modular chassis accommodates 1-gigabit, 10-gigabit and 40-gigabit line cards, along with virtualization configurations intended to support different network architectures.

The platform also supports Multiprotocol Label Switching virtual private networks and IPv4 and IPv6 routing, allowing organizations to use the equipment for network interconnection and service delivery.

The S6000 series addresses smaller and growing enterprise networks, with a design intended to accommodate incremental expansion without requiring complete equipment replacement.

Unlike conventional modular configurations that rely on a dedicated management module, the S6000 allows service modules installed in its chassis slots to perform management functions.

That approach increases the number of slots available for network services while allowing organizations to adjust port capacity through different line-card combinations.

Across all three product lines, FS plans to provide cloud-based management capabilities covering network configuration, monitoring, alerts and administration.

The management platform will also support batch operations and centralized visibility across multiple devices and locations, potentially reducing the operational burden of managing distributed network infrastructure.

The expansion comes as enterprise networks face increasing demands from connected devices, wireless access points and applications requiring higher data throughput.

Modular switching platforms allow businesses to add connectivity and network services as requirements change, extending the useful life of existing infrastructure compared with systems that require replacement when capacity limits are reached.

FS said the three series will complement its existing Enterprise Switch and SME Switch product lines when they are officially launched.
