Fontana Candle Expands Factory After 2 Million Sales

Fontana Candle Co.

LANCASTER, PA — Fontana Candle Co. will expand its Lancaster manufacturing operations in September after surpassing 2 million candles sold, increasing production capacity as the family-owned company extends a period of growth that placed it among Inc.’s fastest-growing U.S. private businesses for a second consecutive year.

Fontana ranked No. 1,063 on Inc.’s latest list, improving from No. 1,183 a year earlier. The company was also ranked No. 31 among U.S. manufacturers by Inc., according to the release.

The planned facility expansion is intended to increase production as Fontana broadens distribution through its direct-to-consumer website, Amazon, TikTok Shop and retail partners. The company did not disclose the size or cost of the expansion or the amount of additional production capacity expected.

Fontana manufactures candles using beeswax, coconut oil and essential oils and does not use synthetic fragrances. Its raw materials are certified under the MADE SAFE program.

The expansion follows eight years of development for the business, which was founded by husband-and-wife team Eric and Katie Roering after beginning as a candle-making hobby.

Fontana is also redesigning labels across its candle line as it targets further retail distribution. The packaging uses scent-specific colors while placing greater emphasis on the company’s name and ingredient information to improve product identification on store shelves.

“From the beginning, we’ve believed a candle should be as beautiful as it is trustworthy,” co-founder Eric Roering stated. He described the new packaging as an effort to combine retail presentation with clearer ingredient information.

The manufacturing expansion and packaging changes come as Fontana seeks to translate its recent sales growth into a larger retail presence. The company expects the additional Lancaster capacity to support further production of its natural candle line.
