Fatal Car Crash in Valley Forge National Park Under Investigation

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A tragic car crash in the early hours of Saturday, January 13, 2024, has resulted in two fatalities, according to a report from the Upper Merion Township Police Department. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Valley Forge Park Road and County Line Road within the confines of Valley Forge National Park.

At 1:14 AM, Upper Merion Township Police, Fire, and EMS units responded to an accident involving a Toyota sedan that had reportedly veered off the eastbound roadway and collided with a tree. Upon their arrival, emergency personnel found three occupants in the vehicle and immediately began providing medical care.

The front-seat passenger, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, an adult male, had already removed a three-year-old child from the wreckage by the time help arrived. Despite the swift response and efforts of the emergency team, the child, who suffered severe trauma in the crash, later died at the Children’s Hospital in King of Prussia. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Paoli Hospital for treatment.

The Upper Merion Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Detective Bureau Forensic Services Unit, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The names of the deceased are being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
