Exyn Wins Federal LiDAR Selection After Technical Review

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Exyn Technologies (NASDAQ: EXYN, EXYNW) has secured another U.S. government deployment for its handheld LiDAR technology after an unidentified federal research and engineering organization selected the company’s Exyn Nexys system through a competitive technical evaluation.

The organization tested Nexys directly against other commercial LiDAR systems in a laboratory dedicated to evaluating handheld scanners and simultaneous localization and mapping, or SLAM, algorithms, according to Exyn. The company attributed the selection to the system’s accuracy, mobility and data-capture speed.

Financial terms of the deployment were not disclosed. Exyn also did not identify the government organization or specify the number of systems involved.

The customer plans to use Nexys to create three-dimensional models of facilities and equipment for facility planning, equipment placement and as-built documentation. The organization also expects to scan active machine and fabrication shops and extract measurements from the resulting models.

Recurring scans are planned as facilities change, potentially making the system part of the organization’s continuing planning and documentation workflow rather than a single mapping project.

The selection adds to Exyn’s federal government business following contracts disclosed in July involving the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other government initiatives. The company also disclosed plans for a demonstration and operational pilot with the U.S. Air Force’s Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex involving autonomous aircraft inspection and cargo mapping.

Chief Executive Officer Brandon Torres Declet called the head-to-head evaluation “meaningful validation” of Nexys and pointed to demand among federal customers for repeatable 3D data capture.

Exyn Nexys uses LiDAR to generate high-resolution 3D point clouds in real time and is designed to operate in GPS-denied and low-light environments. Exyn’s post-processing software, ExynAI, processes the captured data into point clouds that can be exported to standard geospatial and design software.
