Expect Traffic Slowdowns on I-95 and I-76 for Bridge Inspections

Traffic Advisory

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that scheduled bridge inspections will cause lane closures on Interstate 95 and I-76 this week.

On Tuesday, May 28, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, alternating lane closures will occur in both directions on I-95 at the Philadelphia International Airport Interchange.

On Wednesday, May 29, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, alternating moving lane closures are planned in both directions on I-76 between the Spring Garden Street and Montgomery Drive interchanges.

Thursday, May 30, will see two separate left lane closures on I-76. From 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the westbound left lane between Spring Garden Street and Montgomery Drive will be closed. From 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, the eastbound left lane between Montgomery Drive and Girard Avenue will also be closed.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and anticipate slowdowns in these areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

These inspections are part of PennDOT’s routine program to inspect bridges at least once every two years, ensuring the safety and overall condition of the structures.
