Egan-Jones Adds Former Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Alan McClain to Board

HAVERFORD, PA — Egan-Jones Ratings Company has appointed Alan McClain, former Arkansas insurance commissioner and a seasoned insurance industry executive, to its Board of Directors. With more than 30 years of experience in insurance, regulatory oversight, and organizational governance, McClain will provide strategic guidance as the firm continues to expand its role in the financial ratings industry.

“Alan’s extensive experience in the insurance industry and strong background in a regulated environment make him an invaluable addition to our Board,” said Sean Egan, CEO of Egan-Jones Ratings Company.

McClain most recently served as Arkansas’s 24th insurance commissioner, appointed by Gov. Asa Hutchinson in 2020. Before that, he spent five years as commissioner of Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (ARS), bringing a deep understanding of public policy, insurance regulation, and corporate governance.

Egan-Jones, a leading provider of independent credit ratings for nearly three decades, plays a significant role in private debt markets. In 2024 alone, it rated over 3,000 private credit transactions, underscoring its influence in the financial sector.
