Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Single-Car Crash in Bear

BEAR, DE — The Delaware State Police announced they are currently investigating a fatal single-car crash that occurred late Thursday night in Bear, Delaware, leaving one man dead.

Details of the Incident:

  • Date and Time: November 2, 2023, at approximately 11:56 p.m.
  • Location: Northbound on Wrangle Hill Road, north of Mabel Lane, Bear, DE
  • Vehicle Involved: Gray 2015 Toyota RAV4

According to the Delaware State Police, the RAV4 was traveling northbound on Wrangle Hill Road when it made an abrupt left turn across the oncoming southbound lanes. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway, colliding head-on with a large tree before becoming engulfed in flames.

The driver of the RAV4 was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
