Delaware State Police Arrest Two Juvenile Males After High-Speed Chase in Stolen Vehicle

NEW CASTLE, DE — Delaware State Police announced the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile male and a 16-year-old juvenile male, both of Wilmington, DE after they allegedly led troopers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning.

The 14-year-old juvenile has been charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500, Resisting Arrest, and additional releated crimes. The 16-year-old juvenile is charged with Resisting Arrest.

The criminal complaint alleges that on June 13, 2023, at approximately 1:21 a.m., troopers located a stolen silver 2022 Toyota Highlander with Florida registration entering the parking lot of the Budget Inn located at 3 Memorial Drive, New Castle. The vehicle quickly exited the parking lot and began traveling westbound on Memorial Dr. The trooper attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, but it fled towards North Dupont Highway (Route 13). The vehicle traveled northbound on Route 13 until it lost control and struck a fence on South Heald Street. The two juveniles exited the car and fled on foot but were quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Wilmington Police Department. The juveniles were taken into custody and transported to Troop 2 where they were each charged.

The 14-year-old juvenile was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on an $8,250 secured bond.

The 16-year-old passenger was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released to a guardian.
