MEDIA, PA — The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA), in collaboration with Upper Chichester Township Parks and Recreation and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA), is offering a golden opportunity for residents aged 60 and above. The nationally recognized Arthritis Foundation’s “Walk with Ease” program is coming to town, aimed at those seeking relief from arthritis pain or simply wanting to stay active.

This unique health initiative is set to commence on March 19 and will run each Tuesday through April 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The venue is the Upper Chichester Fieldhouse, located at 8500 Furey Road in Upper Chichester.

The “Walk with Ease” program is an evidence-based approach that has shown significant benefits in reducing arthritis-related discomfort, improving balance and strength, and increasing walking pace. Moreover, it builds confidence in individuals to stay physically active and contributes to overall health improvement.

Participants will receive the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease Guidebook, a comprehensive companion packed with valuable information, pain management techniques, and strategies to maintain an active lifestyle. With the support of their group leader and peers, and armed with insights from the guidebook, participants will walk once per week as a group and at least twice more each week on their own, progressing at their own pace.

By blending practical walking activities with the guidebook’s wealth of knowledge, the program provides participants with the tools they need to make significant strides towards better health.

Sponsored by COSA, the “Walk with Ease” program is free to join. However, due to limited class size, interested individuals are encouraged to register as soon as possible. To secure a place, contact COSA via phone at (610) 872-1383 or send an email to williamse@co.delaware.pa.us, providing your name, address, phone number, and email address.
