Delaware County Receives Over $300,000 in State Grants for Community Projects

MEDIA, PA — Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) announced that Delaware County has been awarded $305,200 in state grants. The funding was approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) and will benefit security and law enforcement programs, as well as victim services within the 26th Senatorial District.

“I’m thrilled that vital state funding is reaching local organizations in my district, ensuring their continued ability to serve our community,” said Senator Kearney. “I always advocate for more investments in community projects and organizations because I know these resources will positively impact the constituents and people who visit Delaware County.”

The grant awards are allocated as follows:

  • Under the Nonprofit Security Grant Fund Program:
    • The Islamic Center of Delaware County has received $33,200 for safety and security upgrades.
    • Temple Sholom in Broomall has been granted $25,000 for safety and security enhancements.
  • For the Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program:
    • The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has been awarded $200,000. These funds will be used for signing bonuses to fill 28 vacancies and anticipated vacancies.
  • Regarding the State Children’s Advocacy Center Funds:
    • Family Support Line of Delaware County, Inc. has received $47,000. This funding will help maintain core children’s advocacy center service standards.

This significant funding injection will not only boost local law enforcement and security efforts but also contribute to maintaining critical support services for children within the community.
