Dakota Marketplace Makes Bold Data Play With Massive New Private Fund Benchmarking Suite

Dakota Marketplace

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dakota Marketplace has launched a sweeping expansion of its investment intelligence platform with the debut of a new Private Fund Performance & Custom Benchmarking dataset, offering detailed analytics on more than 14,000 private funds spanning private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and energy.

The new dataset represents one of the broadest consolidated views of private markets performance available to investors. As private markets continue to grow in size and influence, firms are seeking faster access to reliable analytics and alternatives to high-priced legacy data providers.

Dakota Founder and CEO Gui Costin said the shift reflects a broader demand for transparency in an asset class long known for limited data access. He said the goal is to supply institutional-grade insights to a wider range of investment teams, rather than only the largest firms with deep research budgets.

Dakota will offer the new product—Dakota Private Funds & Benchmarks—within its core Marketplace subscription and as a standalone service priced at $2,995 per user annually. The package includes custom benchmarking tools for peer comparisons, fund-type analysis, and vintage-year evaluations. Users can also integrate data through an API or via the Snowflake Data Cloud, with daily updates supplied by Dakota’s in-house research team.

Costin said the platform is designed to “democratize access” to private markets performance, giving allocators, fundraisers, and investment professionals a more affordable way to evaluate managers, compare strategies, and make data-driven decisions in a rapidly expanding sector.
