WEST READING, PA — Customers Bank (NYSE: CUBI) has integrated its banking services with Qualia Shield, allowing title and escrow companies to send and receive wire transfers directly within Qualia’s closing platform in an effort to reduce wire fraud and streamline real estate transactions.
The integration expands the bank’s existing relationship with Qualia, whose software is widely used by title and escrow professionals to manage residential real estate closings.
By enabling wire origination and receipt within the Qualia platform, the integration removes the need for users to switch between banking and closing systems during transactions.
The change is intended to reduce opportunities for fraud by keeping wire activity within a single workflow where automated verification is performed on every transaction.
Wire fraud remains one of the most persistent risks in residential real estate, with criminals frequently targeting closing transactions by attempting to redirect funds through fraudulent wire instructions.
Customers Bank Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Title Solutions Brett Shulick said embedding wire services within the closing platform allows settlement professionals to improve efficiency while strengthening transaction security.
“It gives our customers the ability to move faster without compromising security and reduces the friction that can slow down closings,” Shulick stated.
The latest integration builds on Customers Bank’s participation in the Qualia Bank Partner Network, which already included automated account reconciliation, positive pay file delivery, daily clearing and digital onboarding.
Jackson Reynolds, Qualia’s chief strategy officer, described the expanded integration as eliminating one of the industry’s most common security vulnerabilities.
“Wire fraud lives in the handoff moments when someone moves across multiple systems,” Reynolds stated. “This integration eliminates that gap.”
