EAST HEMPFIELD TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that traffic restrictions are expected next week due to the ongoing Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County.
Starting Monday, March 4, northbound traffic on Centerville Road near the ramp to eastbound Route 30 will be rerouted to allow for guiderail repairs. The work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. While southbound Centerville Road traffic will not be directly impacted, flaggers will assist truck traffic making turns at the ramp, potentially causing delays.
The following day, Tuesday, March 5, a left lane restriction will be in place on eastbound Route 30 at the Centerville Road overpass to facilitate median attenuator repairs. This work is slated for the early morning hours, from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM.
Motorists are advised to stay alert, drive with caution, and prepare for slow-moving traffic during these times.
These traffic restrictions are part of the broader Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project. This ambitious initiative includes structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction tasks.
The project spans Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. While primarily located in East Hempfield Township, the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue falls within Manor Township.
JD Eckman, Inc., a construction firm based in Atglen, PA, is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. All work is scheduled for completion by July 22, 2025.
