ELKTON, MD — The Cecil County Department of Community Services (DCS) is seeking volunteers for Cecil Cares 2023, the 8th annual countywide day of service, on Saturday, October 7.

Cecil Cares offers citizens the opportunity to connect and volunteer with local organizations (nonprofits, government agencies, and faith and service-based organizations) on a variety of hands-on service projects or donation drives throughout the county. Interested citizens may locate and register for a Cecil Cares project of their choice by visiting  www.volunteercecil.org – just click on the purple Cecil Cares banner.

Last year, over 160 volunteers were engaged in 19 projects. Projects included collecting approximately 1,500 pounds of food for a local pantry, removing 1,175 pounds of trash and debris, mulching 80 trees, assembling over 50 pieces of furniture, and pitching in to do minor home repairs.

Cecil Cares is coordinated by DCS and the Cecil Cares Planning Team with support from Upper Shore Regional Council.
