ELKTON, MD — Cecil College announced Tuesday it will launch a Certified Manufacturing Associate program in June 2026 to prepare individuals with little or no experience for entry-level manufacturing jobs.

The program is designed to provide foundational knowledge and hands-on training for individuals entering the manufacturing workforce, the college said.

The hybrid program combines online coursework with in-person instruction focused on practical skills used in modern manufacturing environments.

Students will complete two courses as part of the program. The first course covers shop safety, manufacturing processes, technical math, measurement, blueprint reading, and production technologies.

The second course focuses on automation, assembly operations, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles, according to the college.

Participants will also receive training in shop math, machining, assembly, and inspection.

Upon completion, students will take the Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) certification exam, a nationally recognized credential intended to demonstrate workforce readiness to employers.

The program is aimed at individuals starting a new career or transitioning into manufacturing, a sector with ongoing demand for entry-level workers.
