Cecil College Inducts Seven into Athletics Hall of Fame

NORTH EAST, MD — Cecil College inducted seven individuals into its Athletics Hall of Fame during a ceremony held Saturday, March 28, on its North East Campus, recognizing their contributions to the college’s athletic programs, the college announced.

The Class of 2026 includes Victor Akinyanju, Jeff Bonsall, Sean Grugan, Jason Rust, Alexis Stubblefield, Brittanie (Walter) Krauss and Craig Winder.

The ceremony took place in the Technology Center conference room and was organized by a committee of alumni, coaches and staff, according to the college.

Inductees were selected based on athletic performance, leadership, sportsmanship and contributions to the growth of Cecil College athletics.

Akinyanju, a men’s basketball player from 2002 to 2005, set program records in rebounds and blocked shots and helped lead the team to multiple conference and regional championships.

Bonsall, a pitcher from 1982 to 1984, earned NJCAA All-American honors and was selected in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Grugan served as an athletic trainer from 2001 to 2016, supporting student-athletes across multiple sports and contributing to facility operations.

Rust, an outfielder from 2001 to 2003, posted a .476 career batting average with 32 home runs and led the NJCAA in batting average and home runs during his freshman season.

Stubblefield, a women’s basketball player from 2015 to 2018, helped lead the program to a Region 20 championship and its first NJCAA National Tournament appearance.

Krauss, a two-sport athlete in women’s soccer and softball from 2009 to 2011, earned multiple all-conference and all-region honors while contributing to championship teams.

Winder, a men’s basketball player from 2002 to 2005, scored 1,138 career points and earned NJCAA All-American honors before continuing his career at the University of Texas and in professional leagues.

Cecil College said the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to its athletic programs through participation, support or leadership.
