Cecil College Celebrates Continuing Education and Workforce Development Completers

NORTH EAST, MDCecil College hosted its annual Continuing Education and Workforce Development Completion Ceremony, honoring the accomplishments of program completers and GED graduates. The ceremony recognized 74 individuals for their dedication to advancing their education and career goals, with family, friends, and community members gathered to celebrate their achievements.

The evening’s keynote address was delivered by Perketer Tucker from the Maryland Department of Labor. Her inspiring words resonated with the audience, emphasizing perseverance and the value of education.

“On behalf of the entire Cecil College community, I am honored to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our GED graduates and Workforce program completers,” said Cecil College President Dr. Mary Way Bolt. “These accomplishments mark a significant milestone in their educational journey, one that reflects their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to personal and professional growth.”

Reflective speeches from distinguished students added a personal touch to the celebration. Laine Warner shared their experience with the GED program, Lilyana Heuisler discussed the impact of the Certified Nursing Assistant/Geriatric Nursing Assistant program, and Jamie McCoy reflected on their achievements in the Workforce Development Marine Service Technology program.

Carolyn Fletcher, Director of Adult Education, highlighted the importance of the Award of Excellence and the Award of Perseverance and Determination as symbols of students’ commitment and success.

The event also featured remarks by Dr. Miles Dean, Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, recognizing the efforts of all program participants. “This ceremony is a tribute to our students’ hard work, dedication, and perseverance,” said Dr. Dean. “Each of them has shown remarkable commitment to their education and personal growth. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to all they will achieve in the future.”

The ceremony concluded with a reception where attendees celebrated the successes of the graduates. Cecil College remains steadfast in its mission to provide high-quality education and training programs, empowering students to achieve their personal and professional goals.
