BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction activities are set to cause nightly disruptions next week on Rockhill Drive in Bensalem Township. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has scheduled night-time demolition work on a bridge as part of an ongoing project to reconstruct, widen, and improve U.S. 1 in Bucks County.
The construction work is planned from Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7. Each night, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a single lane pattern with intermittent 15-minute stoppages will be in place in both directions on Rockhill Drive between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard.
The lane closures are necessary for PennDOT’s contractor to safely demolish the southbound side of the existing bridge carrying U.S. 1 over Rockhill Drive. In the meantime, motorists traveling in both directions on U.S. 1 will be using the new northbound bridge during the southbound construction.
Drivers are advised to allocate extra time when traveling through the work area due to potential delays caused by the construction activities. The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change should adverse conditions arise.
