UPPER DARBY TWP, PA — Motorists traveling through Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, should prepare for delays on Monday, October 19, when SEPTA closes a section of Bishop Avenue for milling and paving operations, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

  • Dates: Monday, October 19, 2026
  • Times: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

During the closure, drivers will be directed to use West Baltimore Pike, Oak Avenue, and Providence Road to travel around the affected section of Bishop Avenue.

Local access will be maintained throughout construction, allowing residents and other local traffic to reach properties within the work zone.

Motorists should expect backups along the designated detour and surrounding roads, particularly during periods of heavier traffic. Drivers are encouraged to plan extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and consider alternate routes when possible.

The work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions prevent paving operations.

SEPTA will perform the project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
