PHILADELPHIA, PA — Employees from 44 Business Capital, the nationwide SBA lending division of Berkshire Bank, volunteered with Variety, the Children’s Charity of the Greater Delaware Valley, in Norristown, PA. On June 13, more than 1,000 Berkshire Bank employees participated in Xtraordinary Day (X Day), an annual day of service, by helping over 45 local nonprofits across the bank’s markets.
Greg Poehlmann, Senior Vice President of Business Banking, highlighted the team’s efforts. “The 44 team helped the Variety Club of Philadelphia prepare for its Summer Camp season by painting cabins and working on the greenhouses. They pulled weeds, laid cardboard, spread wood chips, and planted various vegetables,” he said. “I’m very proud of the turnout and effort put forth by the entire team at 44 Business Capital. When duty calls, they always respond.”
Each year, Berkshire Bank closes all its financial centers and offices at noon to host X Day. This initiative supports nonprofits addressing hunger, homelessness, and affordable housing, aiming to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
This year, employees participated in more than 50 X Day projects across Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. The volunteers’ efforts reflect Berkshire Bank’s commitment to strengthening the communities where its employees live and work.
