UNION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania State Police from the Reading Barracks is currently investigating a significant theft from a vehicle and subsequent access device fraud incident. The crime occurred on October 26, 2023, on Scott Run Road in Union Township, Berks County.
According to the information released by the police, two male suspects unlawfully entered the victim’s vehicle and stole four credit cards. These cards were later used or attempted to be used for purchases at several local businesses, including the Wyomissing Home Depot, Staples, and Walmart. The total value of the fraudulent transactions amounted to approximately $4,300.
The suspects have been described in detail. Suspect #1 is a dark-skinned white or Hispanic male, estimated to be between 50-55 years old, and weighing between 200-230 lbs. Suspect #2 is a white or Hispanic male with black facial hair. He was seen wearing a gray baseball hat, sunglasses, and a white T-shirt during the time of the incident.
Vehicle owners are being urged to ensure their vehicles are locked when unattended and to avoid leaving valuable items, especially credit cards and other sensitive personal information, within their cars.
