Attalon Targets Defense Production With Scalable Laser Systems

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Attalon introduced a consolidated portfolio of defense laser systems ranging from 10 kilowatts to more than 300 kilowatts, positioning the company to supply military contractors and government agencies as directed-energy weapons advance from prototypes toward production.

The Valaris platform combines three distinct laser architectures, giving defense prime contractors, systems integrators and government customers options based on mission requirements, power output, manufacturing costs and operational maintenance.

Its highest-power offering, Valaris X, uses coherent beam combining and adaptive optics to deliver approximately 50 kilowatts, with the potential to scale beyond 300 kilowatts for longer-range directed-energy applications.

Valaris S uses spectral beam combining to produce approximately 30 kilowatts and can scale to roughly 50 kilowatts. The system is intended to balance beam quality, manufacturing scalability and cost.

The third offering, Valaris D, uses dichroic beam combining to deliver approximately 10 kilowatts for applications requiring lower power and a less expensive path to operational deployment.

By organizing the three technologies under one platform, Attalon is seeking to simplify equipment selection and integration for customers preparing directed-energy systems for wider deployment.

“Customers aren’t looking for a single laser architecture—they’re looking for the right laser architecture for their mission,” stated Matt Straup, vice president and general manager of Attalon’s directed energy and advanced lasers business.

Straup indicated that the platform allows integrators to select systems based on performance, installation and long-term maintenance requirements.

The company framed its expansion around a shift in military procurement priorities from experimental performance toward equipment that can be manufactured, delivered and maintained in operational environments.

“Directed energy is no longer defined solely by what is possible in the lab—it is defined by what can be built, delivered, and sustained in the field,” Chief Executive Officer John Bergeron stated.
