WILMINGTON, DE — In a significant development in the investigation of a February shooting that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Davahne Davis, Wilmington Police have announced the arrest of 27-year-old Nazier Johnson. The incident, which has cast a shadow over the community, occurred on the 600 block of East 8th Street.

On the afternoon of February 20, at around 4:34 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Davis, who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries, leaving the community in mourning and law enforcement determined to seek justice.

The case was diligently pursued by Detective Derek Haines of the Criminal Investigation Division. Through his investigative efforts, Johnson was identified as a suspect. Warrants for Johnson’s arrest were issued, culminating in a coordinated operation on March 7. Early in the morning, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of McDowell Avenue in Chester, Pennsylvania. Johnson was apprehended without incident, and a loaded .357 caliber handgun was seized.

Following his extradition to Delaware on March 15, Johnson now faces several charges, including Murder in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $1,000,000 cash-only.

This arrest marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation, but it is important to note that the case is still developing. As further details may emerge, the information presented here is subject to change. It is also crucial to remember that an arrest, a criminal complaint, or any allegations are not indicative of guilt. Under the law, Johnson, like any suspect, arrestee, or defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
