MEDIA, PA — A harrowing incident on Christmas Eve has led to a high-stakes arrest and ongoing investigation in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Eric Rohshod Comegys, 30, was detained on allegations of robbery and related offenses following an incident involving an Amazon delivery van.

According to a press release from the Nether Providence Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Manchester Avenue at 2:15 pm on December 24, 2023. The victim, an Amazon delivery driver, reported that he was approached by a man who implied he was armed, took the Amazon van, and drove away toward Baltimore Pike.

The Delaware County Emergency Communications Center issued a county-wide alert. Shortly after, at 2:32 pm, the Chester City Police Department received a call reporting an Amazon van occupied by two men throwing packages into a black Chevrolet Impala near the 11th Street gate at Chester High School.

Chester Police located the Impala, which allegedly fled from officers but was later found abandoned in the 200 block of Fulton Street. Multiple Amazon packages were reportedly discovered in the car’s rear seat.

Officers subsequently detained Comegys in the vicinity. Further investigation indicated that he owned the Chevrolet Impala. Surveillance video reportedly showed the defendant abandoning the vehicle just moments before his arrest.

Comegys was arraigned before District Justice David Griffin, and bail was set at 10% of $500,000. He was remanded to Delaware County Prison, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 5, 2024, before District Justice Elizabeth Gallard at Media District Court.
