PHILADELPHIA, PA — Brunch enthusiasts and coffee connoisseurs in Philadelphia have a new reason to celebrate as Almost Home General prepares to open its doors in the city’s historic Old City district. The popular New Jersey brunch spot, known for its inventive cuisine and exceptional coffee, is set to make its Philadelphia debut next week at 205 Race Street, a space that once housed United by Blue and sits at the foot of the Bridge on Race apartments.

Behind this expansion is Robert Doran, alongside partners from Glu Hospitality, who are bringing to the city a unique blend of breakfast, lunch, and brunch offerings, coupled with a standout coffee experience. Almost Home General promises an “almost home” atmosphere, where priority is given to local ingredients, small businesses, and top-notch customer service.

The cafe occupies a spacious 3,000-square-foot area, providing seating for 60 guests inside. Plans to introduce additional outdoor seating are in place, ready to welcome diners with the arrival of pleasant weather. The menu boasts signature dishes that dare to reimagine traditional brunch fare, such as Tempura Fried Scrapple with Olive Oil Poached Egg and Truffle Fondue, Triple Flash Fried Chicken Thigh with Umami Sauce, and a Chopped Cheese-style Ribeye, among other innovative creations.

Coffee lovers will be drawn to the shop’s diverse beverage selection, featuring unique concoctions like Smoked Maple Latte, Old Fashioned Cold Brew, and Purple Haze Matcha. Each drink reflects Almost Home’s commitment to creativity and quality, promising a caffeine fix far beyond the ordinary.

With the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024, Almost Home General is currently operating on a preview basis. The establishment will serve customers seven days a week, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with plans to extend its hours and introduce late-night bites and dinner options in the future.
