PHILADELPHIA, PA — PennDOT announced that 9th Street at Vine Street in Center City Philadelphia will close beginning Monday, October 20, for roadway and utility construction under an $8.5 million safety improvement project.
The intersection will remain closed and detoured around the clock through February 3, 2026. Northbound motorists will follow Arch Street, 11th Street, and Vine Street, while southbound drivers will be redirected via Callowhill Street or Ridge Avenue, 10th Street, and Vine Street starting November 3.
The project will reduce lanes on Vine Street, upgrade signals, add ADA-compliant ramps and bike lanes, and repave the roadway. All work is weather dependent.
