HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry announced the arrest of Nicholas Mimoso, a Philadelphia man found in possession of an arsenal of illegally obtained firearms and running a large-scale marijuana production operation. The arrest is the result of a collaborative effort by law enforcement agencies, highlighting the ongoing battle against gun violence and drug trafficking in the city.

Mimoso, 35, who has prior felony convictions for drug trafficking and firearms possession and is currently on parole, faces charges related to corrupt organizations, firearms possession offenses, and the operation of a marijuana manufacturing setup. The arrest followed the execution of several search warrants at Mimoso’s residence, his place of employment, associated warehouse locations, and a vehicle. During these operations, agents seized ten firearms, including two switches capable of converting the weapons to fully automatic fire, along with nearly $1 million worth of marijuana products.

“This dangerous felon had stockpiled guns while steering a massive drug production and distribution network,” Attorney General Henry stated, emphasizing the threat posed by such individuals to community safety. The Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force and Bureau of Narcotics Investigations played key roles in dismantling Mimoso’s operations, underscoring the effectiveness of interagency cooperation.

The investigation gained momentum after the Office of Attorney General received a tip from the state Department of Corrections – Parole Field Services about a photograph Mimoso posted on social media, flaunting a firearm. Among the items recovered during the searches were a shotgun, ammunition, a ballistics vest, and a riot helmet marked “POLICE.” Evidence suggested that Mimoso was involved in efforts to have others make straw purchases of firearms on his behalf.

Additionally, a second individual, Miguel Alamilla, who has a felony record in Florida, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm as a result of the searches.

The Office of Attorney General Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force continues to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to address the illegal transfer and possession of firearms and the violence stemming from such activities. In the past year alone, the Task Force has seized over 500 firearms and participated in nearly 400 investigations in Philadelphia.

Mimoso’s case will be prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Maggie Hayes-Oberst of the Office of Attorney General Gun Violence Task Force. While the charges against Mimoso and Alamilla are serious, it is important to remember that they are allegations. Both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
