HARRISBURG, PA — Mark S. Herrick, a 47-year-old resident of Hanover, Pennsylvania, faces serious allegations following his indictment by a federal grand jury. Herrick is charged with five counts of interference and attempted interference with commerce by robbery, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam.
The indictment details a spree between October 24, 2023, and October 29, 2023, during which Herrick allegedly targeted five different businesses across three counties in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. It is claimed that during these incidents, Herrick used a knife to rob or attempt to rob these establishments, putting employees and patrons at risk.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and several local police departments including Palmyra, Swatara, and Lower Allen were involved in the investigation leading to Herrick’s indictment. Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Dukes is tasked with prosecuting the case.
Under federal law, Herrick could face up to 20 years of imprisonment, a three-year term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine of up to $250,000 if found guilty. The eventual sentence would be determined by a judge, taking into consideration the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
It is crucial to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation. Like all individuals accused of a crime, Herrick is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
