SCRANTON, PA — In a chilling case, 37-year-old Luke Shager from New Milford, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a staggering 262 months behind bars. U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani delivered the sentence on March 7, 2024, for Shager’s horrific crimes of sexual exploitation of children.

The case against Shager began when the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office received a tip-off from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tipster pointed out an individual, later identified as Shager, who was transmitting multiple images and videos displaying children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Acting swiftly on this information, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Shager’s New Milford residence. The search yielded four cellular telephones, which held a disturbing cache of child pornography. Over 1,200 images and videos were found on the devices, including two self-produced videos that showed Shager engaging in sexual contact with a minor under the age of 12.

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam announced the sentencing, noting the crucial role played by Homeland Security Investigations and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in bringing Shager to justice. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.
