HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania House Democrats’ campaign arm surpassed 500,000 voter door knocks statewide Monday, reaching the organizing benchmark more than a month earlier than in the 2022 or 2024 election cycles as the party seeks to expand its state House majority in November.
The Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee attributed the faster pace to earlier campaign staffing, increased volunteer activity and investment in competitive state House districts.
The committee reported that Democrats are fielding candidates in more than 90% of Pennsylvania House districts, which it described as the party’s largest slate since at least 2000.
At the current pace, the organization expects its canvassing operation to reach 1 million doors earlier than in previous election cycles.
“At this rate, we are on track to knock a million doors in record time,” HDCC Executive Director Madeline Zann said.
The committee identified Brad Chambers in House District 41, Bryan Allen in District 18, Tim Hayes in District 143, Sara Agerton in District 88 and Hadley Haas in District 44 as among its leading canvassers in battleground races.
The accelerated field operation comes as Democrats campaign to increase their representation in the state House and pursue unified control of Pennsylvania’s elected branches of state government.
Zann said the party would use a larger majority and Democratic control of state government to pursue priorities including raising the minimum wage, establishing paid family leave and measures aimed at reducing costs and regulating large technology companies.
The 500,000-door figure was reported by the Democratic campaign committee and represents its own accounting of statewide canvassing activity.
Campaigns plan to continue weekly door-to-door organizing through the election, according to the committee.
