Pennsylvania DHS Secretary, Teresa Miller, to be honored with Maternity Care Coalition’s Spirit of Motherhood Award

PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Saturday, February 23rd, 2019, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Teresa D. Miller will be honored with Maternity Care Coalition (MCC)’s esteemed Spirit of Motherhood Award at the 15th Annual Celebrating Mothers Brunch. MCC’s pillar event, will bring together400 professionals including business leaders, medical practitioners, financial representatives, along with committed philanthropists and volunteers from across the Philadelphia region for a high energy, high impact brunch in support of a cause they care about strengthening families. Secretary Miller was selected as this year’s honoree for her exemplary support of children, families and communities. The event will be emceed by Tamala Edwards, 6abc’s Morning News Anchor, and will be held at The Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia, PA from 9:00am-12: 00 pm.

MCC’s Spirit of Motherhood Award honors an individual or organization working to promote maternal and child health and wellbeing who has made a significant difference in the lives of pregnant women and families in a unique and extraordinary way. MCC’s CEO, Marianne Fray, says of the Celebrating Mother’s Committee decision to honor Secretary Miller “The mission of the Department of Human Services – to improve the quality of life for Pennsylvania individuals and families and to promote opportunities for independence through services and support, is completely aligned with MCC’s mission – to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families, and enhance school readiness for children 0-3. In addition to the Spirit of Motherhood award presentation, the morning includes a high-powered networking reception, inspirational program, robust auction, food and friends.
