HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania driver’s license and photo centers will close statewide from Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, for the Labor Day holiday, temporarily shifting customers who need eligible licensing and vehicle services to PennDOT’s online system.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stated that its centers will reopen after the holiday period, while online driver and vehicle services will remain available around the clock.

Customers can use the online system to renew driver’s licenses, photo identification cards and vehicle registrations; obtain duplicate licenses and photo IDs; change addresses; access driver-history services; pay driver’s license or vehicle insurance restoration fees; and obtain restoration letters.

REAL ID pre-verification and driver examination scheduling are also available online. PennDOT does not charge additional fees for transactions completed through its online services.

The closure applies to PennDOT driver’s license and photo centers. Customers planning to use an Online Messenger Service Center during the holiday period should contact the individual location in advance because operating hours may vary.

PennDOT maintains its complete schedule of 2026 driver’s license and photo center holiday closings at https://www.dmv.pa.gov/Pages/Holiday-Closings.aspx. Forms, publications, driver training manuals and other online services are also available through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website.
