PENNSYLVANIA — In a special ceremony held on Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) bestowed its highest honor upon Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Wesley E. Craig, Jr. of Oreland, PA (Montgomery County), inducting him into its esteemed Hall of Fame. The accolade recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the DMVA, the Pennsylvania National Guard (PNG), and the state’s veterans.

“General Craig has lived a lifetime of public service, both in uniform leading the Pennsylvania National Guard, and as a civilian serving with organizations that support our department,” said Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general and head of the DMVA. “His exemplary contributions have enhanced the lives of our service members, veterans, and their families.”

Craig’s distinguished military career includes commanding roles at every level from platoon through Division within the PNG. He served as the commanding general of the 28th Infantry Division and as the commander of the 56th Infantry Brigade, among other pivotal roles.

Beyond his military service, Craig maintained a full-time civilian career in the retail industry in Philadelphia for three decades while serving in the PNG. His dedication to public service continued into retirement, serving on several boards that support the U.S. military and veterans.

A native of Philadelphia, Craig is an Honor Graduate from the Temple University Army ROTC program and a 1993 Graduate of the U.S. Army War College. His significant contributions to the military were recognized previously when he was inducted into the US Army National ROTC Hall of Fame in 2016.

This induction into the DMVA Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to Craig’s exceptional service to the commonwealth and nation. His legacy of leadership and service continues to inspire the next generation of Pennsylvania’s military and veteran community.
