LeadingAge PA Awards Workforce Grants to Strengthen Aging Services Pipeline

MECHANICSBURG, PALeadingAge PA has announced its 2026 workforce development grants, awarding funding to nine member communities across Pennsylvania to strengthen career pathways and promote leadership within the aging services sector.

Eight organizations will each receive $6,000 to support paid internships designed for students pursuing careers in senior living and care. A ninth organization, Bradford Ecumenical Home in McKean County, has been awarded $50,000 over two years to fund an Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program that prepares individuals for licensure as nursing home administrators.

“These grants reflect our dedication to preparing the next generation of leaders in aging services,” said LeadingAge PA President and CEO Garry Pezzano. “By supporting these programs, we’re helping to build a stronger workforce and encourage more individuals to find purpose in serving older adults.”

The internship program offers eight- to ten-week paid placements that provide students with hands-on experience in the field, while the AIT initiative offers comprehensive training and mentorship to guide future administrators through the licensing process.

The 2026 internship grant recipients include:

  • Dunwoody Village – Delaware County
  • Fellowship Community – Lehigh County
  • Homewood at Martinsburg – Blair County
  • Luthercare – Lancaster County
  • Paul’s Run Retirement Community – Philadelphia
  • Pleasant View Communities – Lancaster County
  • Vincentian – Allegheny County
  • Waverly Heights – Montgomery County

All initiatives are funded through the LeadingAge PA Foundation, which invests in education, workforce development, and innovation to strengthen Pennsylvania’s network of senior care providers.
