HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor has announced that Ian Beck, a Lancaster native and 2025 graduate of Kutztown University, is the latest hire from the department’s growing Intern to Hire program. Beck recently earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and will support the department’s data-driven audit work.
In his new role, Beck joins the team responsible for Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs), focusing on data processing and reconciliation to strengthen audits across the department.
“Our Intern to Hire program is a common-sense approach to creating career pathways for Pennsylvania students to work and stay in the Commonwealth,” DeFoor said. “Recent graduates like Ian are the future of our department, and we are thrilled to have him on our team.”
Launched in October 2022, the Intern to Hire program offers students and recent graduates from Pennsylvania colleges, universities, and community colleges a direct path to full-time employment. Since its inception, 13 interns have transitioned into permanent roles within the department. The program aims to keep talented graduates in-state, supporting both workforce development and public service.
To qualify, applicants must be pursuing or have recently completed studies in fields such as accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, or related areas, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. They must also demonstrate a passion for their field, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service.
Interns working in the Bureau of Information Technology Audits, Bureau of Performance Audits, and Bureau of State and Federal Audits must be enrolled in or have completed a bachelor’s degree program or higher at the start of the internship, while associate degree graduates are welcomed in other bureaus.
With initiatives like Intern to Hire, the Auditor General’s office continues to invest in Pennsylvania’s future workforce, fostering a new generation of public service leaders dedicated to transparency and accountability.
