LABELLE, PA — A 42-year-old inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette has died after being found unresponsive in his cell earlier this month, prompting a Pennsylvania State Police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Superintendent Tina Walker said inmate Fredderick Hall Jr. was discovered unresponsive on November 18. Prison staff initiated life-saving measures immediately, followed by facility medical personnel. Brownsville EMS continued advanced life support as Hall was transported to UPMC Presbyterian, where he was pronounced dead on November 22 at 4:03 p.m.
Hall was serving a 5-to-11-year sentence from Dauphin County for possession of a firearm prohibited. He had been housed at SCI Fayette since September 11.
Under state policy, the Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will investigate Hall’s death. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
Hall’s next of kin have been notified.
