SCRANTON, PA — A federal inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Schuylkill (FCI Schuylkill), Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on allegations of weapon possession. The indictment was announced on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
The inmate, identified as Tyrell Lockhart, 26, is alleged to have been found in possession of a homemade knife or ‘shank’ on July 11, 2023, according to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Special Investigative Services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is handling the prosecution.
If found guilty, the maximum penalty under federal law for this offense includes up to five years imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. The sentencing will be determined by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
