HARRISBURG, PA — Time is running out for Pennsylvanians who still need health insurance for 2026, as the state’s open enrollment period is set to close at the end of January, officials said Thursday.
The Open Enrollment Period through Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace, will end January 31, marking the final opportunity for residents to enroll in coverage for the year ahead.
State officials said the deadline was extended in response to federal changes that are driving higher health plan costs, giving consumers additional time to compare options and secure coverage that fits their needs and budgets.
Pennie officials emphasized that once the enrollment window closes, most residents will be unable to sign up for or change coverage unless they qualify for a special enrollment period triggered by a major life event such as job loss, marriage, or the birth of a child.
The marketplace offers access to a range of private health insurance plans, along with financial assistance for eligible households to help reduce monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
Officials urged residents who remain uninsured, or who want to review their current coverage, not to wait until the final days of the enrollment period. They noted that demand typically surges as the deadline approaches, which can make it harder to complete applications or get personalized assistance.
More information about plans, financial help, and enrollment assistance is available through Pennie’s official channels.
