ALLENTOWN, PA — Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CIS of Eastern PA) is set to host its annual “Champions for Education: A Night of MVPs and Memorabilia” on Friday, October 25, 2024. The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DeSales University in Center Valley.
This year, CIS of Eastern PA collaborates with Own A Piece of History Productions, led by Mike Grabarits. Grabarits, known for his tenure as president and chief academic advisor of Step By Step Learning, will showcase unique items from his extensive sports and historic memorabilia collection. The event will also feature an in-person silent auction with 15-20 consignment items available for bidding. Step By Step Learning partners with local school districts to enhance childhood reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
“We are so excited for this year’s Champions for Education event,” said CIS Eastern PA President & CEO Tim Mulligan. “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to honor our supporters who go above and beyond for this organization and the students who benefit from our services. Our evidence-based model, combined with a supportive relationship with our site professionals, is why 99% of our students remained committed to education and stayed in school.”
The event will acknowledge the significant efforts of its most dedicated supporters. CIS of Eastern PA will present the Champions of Education Award to Kathleen and J.B. Reilly, as well as Denise and Bill Spence. The MVP Corporate Partner Award will go to Olympus Corporation of the Americas, while the MVP Award will honor David Yanoshik, Joetta Clark Diggs, and Bruce Link.
Furthermore, Kim Capers and Jack Gross will be inducted into the CIS of Eastern PA’s Leadership Circle. This recognition is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated transformational leadership, courage, and unwavering support for the organization’s mission.
This celebration not only honors individuals and corporations for their contributions but also highlights the impactful work of CIS of Eastern PA in supporting students to stay in school and achieve their full potential.
