PHILADELPHIA, PA / PITTSBURGH, PA / SAYRE, PA — A sweeping $30 million philanthropic commitment is set to reshape pediatric and emergency care across Pennsylvania, as billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Jared Isaacman announced major investments in three of the Commonwealth’s leading health systems.
The funding will support Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation, and The Guthrie Clinic, bolstering pediatric care, emergency services, and long-term access to advanced medical treatment in both urban and rural communities.
“Pennsylvania is my home,” Isaacman said, calling the investment deeply personal. He said access to strong hospitals and pediatric care can change the trajectory of a family’s life, and supporting institutions that care for children and strengthen public health across the state is a responsibility he takes seriously.
At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Isaacman’s contribution will advance the hospital’s mission to deliver world-class pediatric care closer to home through the naming and expansion of its existing Specialty Care & Surgery Center in the Brandywine Valley. The project includes growth and renovation of the facility, with completion expected in late 2026.
Madeline Bell, chief executive officer of CHOP, said the gift will help expand access to high-quality pediatric care in Delaware and Chester counties and strengthen the hospital’s ability to serve more families close to where they live.
In western Pennsylvania, Isaacman’s support through UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation will help fund the expansion of the UPMC Children’s Heart Institute, one of the nation’s premier pediatric heart and heart-surgery programs. The planned state-of-the-art facility will bring services together under one roof, allowing for a more integrated continuum of care supported by specialized teams and advanced technology.
Rachel Petrucelli, president of UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation, said the expansion will enhance innovation, coordination, and accessibility for children requiring complex cardiac care in Pennsylvania and beyond.
Isaacman’s investment also targets rural healthcare, with funding directed to The Guthrie Clinic to strengthen emergency services across north-central Pennsylvania. The support is expected to enhance facilities, expand staffing, and improve security, reinforcing Guthrie’s role as a critical provider in underserved regions.
Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, president and chief executive officer of The Guthrie Clinic, said the gift will allow the system to serve more patients and better support caregivers while advancing emergency care transformation efforts.
The $30 million commitment reflects Isaacman’s broader philanthropic focus on strengthening essential institutions, advancing medical innovation, and ensuring that children and families — regardless of geography — have access to high-quality, life-saving healthcare.
