HARRISBURG, PA — A $10.7 million private investment will expand a digital marketing firm’s operations in Harrisburg, creating 100 new technology jobs and retaining more than 400 existing positions in the city.

What This Means for You

  • 100 new tech jobs are expected in Harrisburg over the next three years.
  • A historic downtown property will be renovated for business and training use.
  • State funding is supporting the project alongside private investment.

Governor Josh Shapiro announced Thursday that WebFX will expand its Harrisburg operations as part of the investment, with the Commonwealth contributing $900,000 in public funding to support the project.

The state funding includes grants designed to support business growth and workforce training — meaning financial assistance tied to job creation and employee development — through programs administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development.

WebFX plans to renovate the former Tracy Mansion at 1829 Front Street into a training and meeting facility near its existing headquarters.

“My Administration is committed to Harrisburg’s success and today’s announcement shows that our Capital City is making real progress,” Shapiro said.

State Support and Incentives

The Commonwealth’s contribution includes an $800,000 Pennsylvania First grant — a program used to attract and retain businesses — and a $100,000 WEDnetPA grant, which funds employee training programs.

Officials said the investment is intended to strengthen Harrisburg’s technology sector and support downtown revitalization efforts.

“The decision by WebFX to continue investing and growing in Harrisburg is a strong vote of confidence in our Capital City and in Pennsylvania’s robust technology sector,” said Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger.

Local and Regional Impact

WebFX, founded in 1995, is a digital marketing company that provides services to mid- and large-sized businesses. The expansion is expected to create new job opportunities while maintaining 407 existing positions in Harrisburg.

Company founder and CEO Bill Craig said the investment reflects a long-term commitment to the region.

“As we continue to grow, we’re excited to create new career opportunities, invest in our team’s development, and further establish Harrisburg as a hub for innovation,” Craig said.

Local officials also cited the project as part of broader efforts to revitalize Harrisburg’s downtown and attract business investment.

Broader Economic Strategy

State officials pointed to additional investments aimed at supporting Harrisburg’s development, including funding for a downtown revitalization plan and support for affordable housing and business expansion projects.

Since taking office, the administration reports securing more than $41 billion in private-sector investment statewide, tied to nearly 23,000 jobs.
