WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Mint will begin selling rolls and bags of its 2026 President Donald J. Trump $1 coin on Sept. 2, including a limited number struck in Philadelphia on July 4 with a special privy mark commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Sales will open at noon EDT, with purchases initially limited to two of each product per household. The restriction is scheduled to remain in place until 2 p.m. EDT Sept. 3.
The Mint will offer 25-coin rolls for $61 and 100-coin bags for $154.50. The coins were produced at the Philadelphia Mint with a circulating finish but have not been released into general circulation. They remain legal tender.
A subset of 250,000 coins was struck at the Philadelphia Mint on July 4 with a “July 4th” privy mark. Those coins, which carry no mint mark, will be randomly interspersed among the Mint’s numismatic rolls and bags, adding a limited-production variant to the broader release.
The obverse depicts Trump and carries the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “1776~2026.” U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed the portrait based on an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok.
The reverse uses the Presidential Seal, depicting an eagle with an olive branch and arrows and a shield bearing “250.” It also carries the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
Former Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro designed and sculpted the reverse.
The coin is part of the federal government’s numismatic program marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Congress authorized the Treasury secretary under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 to issue a redesigned $1 coin during 2026 for the semiquincentennial.
Unlike traditional commemorative coins produced primarily for collectors, the Trump dollars are circulating-quality coins and can be used at their $1 face value despite being sold by the Mint at premiums when packaged in rolls and bags.
The Philadelphia-produced 100-coin bag carries product code 26SQBP, while the 25-coin roll is listed as 26SQRP. Customers can register for product availability alerts through the U.S. Mint.
