WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Mint will begin selling commemorative Constitution quarters on August 26, pricing 100-coin bags at $63 and 80-coin sets at $56 while limiting initial purchases to two units per household.
Orders open at noon Eastern time, with household restrictions remaining in effect for the first 26 hours.
The quarters commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and feature Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were written, debated and signed.
Collectors can purchase a bag of 100 Philadelphia-minted quarters for $63 under product code 26SQBG or a bag of 100 Denver-minted quarters for the same price under product code 26SQBH.
Each bag contains quarters with a combined face value of $25, placing the sale price $38 above the coins’ face value.
The $56 two-roll set contains 80 circulating-quality quarters minted in Philadelphia and Denver. Its product code is 26SQRG.
Those coins carry a combined face value of $20, putting the set’s price $36 above face value.
The obverse depicts James Madison, the fourth U.S. president, whose role in drafting and promoting the Constitution earned him the designation “Father of the Constitution.”
Inscriptions on that side include “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “1776 ~ 2026.”
The reverse features Independence Hall and the phrase “WE THE PEOPLE,” referencing the constitutional principle that governmental authority derives from the consent of the governed.
Additional inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “U.S. CONSTITUTION” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
