WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the allocation of more than $60 million in grants aimed at supporting veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Administered by the department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS), the funding is part of the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) and will benefit organizations dedicated to helping veterans transition successfully back into the workforce.
The grants include $23 million awarded for new three-year performance grants to 63 organizations and over $37 million distributed to 98 organizations in their second or third year of operation under the program. These organizations will provide essential services to veterans, such as occupational skills training, connections to Registered Apprenticeships and on-the-job training opportunities, as well as job search and placement support.
VETS awards HVRP grants competitively to a range of entities, including nonprofit and for-profit organizations, Native American Tribal governments, state and local workforce boards, faith-based groups, community organizations, higher education institutions, and various government agencies.
Through these programs, veterans gain access to critical resources that help them acquire marketable skills, secure meaningful employment, and address barriers preventing their reintegration into the workforce. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that those who have served the nation receive the support they need to thrive in civilian life.
The Department of Labor’s investment underscores its recognition of the challenges faced by veterans and its commitment to reducing homelessness among those who have sacrificed for their country. By empowering organizations to provide tailored assistance, the department is creating a pathway for veterans to achieve financial independence and stability.
