WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Small Business Administration has rebuilt SBA.gov to give small businesses and lenders a single digital entry point for federal financing, counseling and contracting programs, part of a broader effort to reduce delays and simplify access to agency services.
The redesigned website, launched around the 73rd anniversary of the Small Business Act of 1953, includes a unified login system, an artificial intelligence-based help tool, a streamlined lending process and a portal focused on domestic manufacturers, the agency stated.
The changes could affect how entrepreneurs apply for SBA-backed financing and how participating lenders originate and process loans. The agency described the overhaul as an effort to make its programs easier to navigate while directing more resources toward manufacturers and companies involved in energy, food, critical minerals, transportation and supply-chain services.
The single-login system replaces multiple accounts and passwords, allowing business owners, lenders and other partners to manage applications and access SBA tools through one sign-in.
An AI-supported help function will use information available through the login portal to direct users toward relevant capital, counseling and federal contracting programs. The agency stated that the technology will supplement assistance provided by SBA employees by phone and in person.
The new lending interface is intended to standardize how lenders originate and process SBA-backed loans. SBA also introduced a developer platform that will allow approved financial-technology companies and other partners to integrate agency services into their own systems.
The website includes improved search and navigation, a mobile-optimized format and a dedicated manufacturing portal. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler described the project as an attempt to provide “dramatically improved service levels and modernized digital access” to agency programs.
The overhaul follows changes to SBA’s customer-service operations. The agency reported that average waits for its National Answer Desk hotline declined from about 20 minutes in January 2025 to 20 seconds, although it did not provide underlying call-volume data or details on how the average was calculated.
SBA also consolidated public-facing email inboxes, expanded automated self-service options and replaced 12 telephone numbers with a single customer-service line, 1-866-SBA-HELP.
The agency stated that it plans to continue updating the website. The new platform is available at www.SBA.gov.
